I have had this sketch lying around for a long time and finally got around to coloring it. The color I chose for the clothes look like a light cream color based on the cap of the marker, but as I starting laying it on I was surprised when it became BRIGHTER THAN THE SUN! Oh well, the moral of the story here is to never trust that a copic will look like the cap when it is on the paper and to always VERIFY!!! I was able to take down some of the over the top intensity of the piece by adding in some mellow orange and gray tones and then finally going back with some white ink to push the heavy yellows more towards shadowy areas. Drawn on A4 kent paper, HB lead, inked with "manga ink" and Maru pens. Oh yeah, and the scan isn't the best. I find I can't really get good scans with too much yellow for some reason. If anyone knows some nice scanning tricks/settings please let me know. As any of you who follow me know I spend most of my time dealing with black and white, so my knowledge in color spheres is limited. Thanks, SC
It's been a while, but I used to scan mine at like 600 dpi or something ridiculous (hey, the computer was old) in order to preserve the color properly when I reduce the image size to where I want it.
I do the same thing. The problem is yellows and oranges and light reds don't really scan well with the default settings. And skin tones are all yellow-reds and pinks... Lamentations from the tough life of an art-drawer.
This is really cool, the shading and detail in the hair is really nicely done. And I know you had no intention of this, nor am I some huge pony fan, but the hair and dress colors remind me of fluttershy xD
nice colors and shadows ^.^ the eye moves well across the piece from the top of her head down to the bottom right corner, and I like the way you've captured the hair, lips, and the blood left over form her meal
Usually I advise against too much detail in the hair, but that's very good.
I like the way you did the shading, without grays.
The sundress looks like its made of a thicker fabric that one would expect, but it's certainly not something to get hung up on.
I'd be her meal anytime XD
